The Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity is applying for the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER III) Federal Grant for funding. The ARP ESSER III grant will provide funding to address: student learning loss due to COVID-19, underserved students and provide support to additional public education needs.

Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan

The Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity aims to provide a safe reopening of the public school districts. Our “Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plans” is available for public comments. Our plan is as follows:

Maintaining Health and Safety:

To optimize a safe re-opening and reduce the risk of transmission, The Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity plans to implement the following strategies for the 2021-2022 school year (per current CDC guidelines):

  • Availability of hand sanitizer
  • Following proper hand washing protocol
  • Target cleaning as appropriate (especially high contact areas)
  • OPTIONAL: Wearing of face masks (as written in Executive Order No. GA-36 signed May 18,2021)
  • Positive cases will be reported to the local health department
  • Identify local vaccination sites
  • Appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities as identified in the student’s Individualized Education Program

Ensuring Continuity of Services:

The Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity will strive to take appropriate actions to meet students’ academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Proposed plans to provide a continuity of services are as follows:

  • Continue to provide high quality on-grade level instructions with scaffolded supports for all students.
  • Instructional materials/resources, activities and outreach will be provided to meet the needs of students.
  • Social and emotional/counseling, wellness supports will be provided to students and professional development (training) to staff.
  • Provide staff development to accelerate learning
  • Provide accelerated instructional program as mandated by House Bill 4545.
  • An effective tutorial program will be provided during the school day, and as needed after the school day and on Saturdays that addresses unfinished learning for identified students.
  • Create intervention-focused elementary & secondary data reports to monitor student progress.
  • Create systems and structures that enable rigorous, active, and aligned 1:1 blended learning.

Periodic Review

  • The Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity will periodically review, no less frequently than every six (6) months for the duration of the ARP ESSER grant period (i.e.., through September 30, 2023), and revise our plan as appropriate.
  • The Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity will seek public input and take such input into account regarding: (1) whether revisions are necessary and, if so, (2) making any revisions to the plan.

Send Us Your Feedback

As a valued member of The Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity community, we ask that you please take the time to give us your feedback regarding our plan via this form. It is our goal to create and maintain a plan that is responsive to the needs of our students, families, and educators.

Planned Uses of ESSER III Funds

As a grant recipient, The Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity, must engage and give its stakeholders, students, parents, families, and staff the opportunity to provide input to the development and usage of the ARP ESSER III funds. The following principles will guide our planning efforts alongside stakeholder feedback:

  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to guidelines and employ best practices.
  • Impact: Prioritize programs/products that maximize and stimulate student learning.
  • Long Term: Situate the organization for sustainability given funds are not permanent.
  • Capacity: Understand there is limited staff and student limiting our ability to implement new efforts.
  • Transparency: Provide visibility with intended spending of grant funds.

As a valued member of The Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity community, we thank you for your input, given before 28 May 2021, on the purposed plan and use of the ARP ESSER II funds. We shall continue to strive in creating a responsive plan that fits the needs of students, families, and educators.
